The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is one of the most fuel-efficient models in its class with a system output of 150 kilowatts from the diesel engine and 20 kilowatts from the electric motor, a combined fuel consumption of 4.5–4.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of just 119–116 g/km.
This model represents another step for Mercedes-Benz towards its stated objective of emission-free driving and consequently underscores the company’s power of innovation: In the combination of a 4-cylinder diesel engine and an electric motor the new E-Class offers one of the most efficient models in its vehicle segment. The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is a milestone with regard to fuel efficiency, sustainability and comfort.
Quiet, relaxed cruising on long journeys: At speeds of less than 160 km/h the combustion engine can switch itself off when coasting. This can significantly lower fuel consumption and emissions. The technical term for this efficient and pleasant form of locomotion couldn't be more appropriate: sailing.
The supplemental "sailing" function, which can be activated manually via the steering wheel paddle, makes a further reduction in fuel consumption possible. Energy recuperation is reduced to a minimum. The combustion engine remains switched off.
During strong acceleration the boost function can provide noticeably more dynamics by using the power of both engines. And locating the lithium-ion battery in the engine compartment means the occupants do not have to put up with restrictions to the luggage compartment capacity.
