Innovative transmission technology delivers the power of the individual engines effortlessly to the road. Depending on the engine, perfectly tuned transmissions provide optimum pulling power and high efficiency in every engine speed range.

6-speed manual transmiss.[1] The short-throw action and optimum matching of engine power, transmission ratios and final drive ratio provide optimum conditions for sporty yet fuel-efficient driving. In addition, a display in the instrument cluster supports a particularly thrifty driving mode. The ECO start/stop function ensures that the engine is switched off temporarily at traffic lights and in traffic jams, thus saving fuel.
7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission[2] The new consumption- and efficiency-optimised 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission is the new highlight of Mercedes-Benz's transmission technology. Lower fuel consumption and virtually imperceptible gearshifts make for comfortable travel on all lengths of journey. Seven forward gears: wider overall spacing between bottom and top gear but also less spacing between one gear and the next make for a more comfortable driving experience. Optimum engine speed: for lower fuel consumption and virtually imperceptible gearshifts. Powerful torque: multiple downshifting allows for quick bursts of speed. A new generation of torque converter: increased useful life, further reduction in noise levels and a more dynamic response thanks to innovative transmission technology. Reduced fuel consumption: The ECO start/stop function (not available for C 300 CDI 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY or C 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY) makes a valuable fuel saving by temporarily switching off the engine when stationary at traffic lights or in a traffic jam.
AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission[3] The new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with which the C 63 AMG is equipped, impresses through its great diversity and efficiency. With AMG aluminium steering wheel gearshift paddles, four driving programmes and the Race-Start function, the new 7-speed automatic transmission makes a 10-percent consumption reduction over the preceding model possible, accompanied by enhanced driving dynamics and greater efficiency. The "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus), "C" (Comfort) and "M" (Manual) modes each have different gear-change characteristics and speeds: Gear changes in "S" and "S+" modes are around 20 or 40 percent swifter than in "C" mode respectively – while in "M" mode gear changes take just 100 milliseconds, making them some 50 percent faster. A push of a button activates the desired driving mode: distinctly sporty or more comfort-oriented. There is the automatic double-declutching function when downshifting, which provides an emotional sound experience as well as reducing power-off effects. This function has a positive effect when braking on the approach to bends in particular.
